Dear City Elected Officials,

We are pleased to report that the City Council has adopted a budget that restores the full proposed cut to libraries this year. Thanks to your voices, and those of our leaders in government, every single community library will remain open at least five days per week. Weekend service has been preserved. Hundreds of talented librarians and staff have been saved from layoff.

We thank our elected officials, including the entire New York City Council, led by Speaker Christine C. Quinn, as well as Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg, for prioritizing public libraries this year. We want to recognize Council Member Domenic M. Recchia, Jr., Chairman of the Finance Committee; Council Member Jimmy Van Bramer, Chairman of the Cultural Affairs & Libraries Committee; Deputy Majority Leader Leroy Comrie; and Council Member Vincent Gentile, Chairman of the Select Committee on Libraries for their outstanding leadership as well as the entire Queens delegation to the City Council.

Please take a moment to thank your leaders for restoring funding to the Queens Library in this year’s budget. Simply fill out this form below to send a note of thanks to the Mayor, the Speaker and your City Council representative.
