We Did It!

Thanks to your social media posts, your postcards, letters and calls, Mayor Bill de Blasio, Speaker Corey Johnson, and the New York City Council on June 14, 2018 agreed on a budget for Fiscal Year 2019 that includes at least $60 million in capital funds and a $17.3 million increase in operating funding for the Queens, Brooklyn and New York Public library systems.

The Mayor, the Speaker, Finance Chair Daniel Dromm, Libraries Chair Jimmy Van Bramer and the entire City Council have made clear that libraries are an essential service that plays a vital role in making opportunity and knowledge accessible to all. They delivered for the millions who rely on us every day, and we are deeply appreciative.

With this funding, Queens Library can maintain our services, strengthen our digital infrastructure, and make critical repairs to our branches so they continue to serve as inspiring, inviting places that meet your needs today, tomorrow and beyond.

Thank you for standing with libraries.
Sincerely,
Dennis M. Walcott
President and CEO, Queens Library
